CREATE - Primary & Subordinate Accounts
Notes:
- Patient Access to their Portal requires a unique Username and Password.
- A Patient can be designated as a Primary Account holder with unlimited Subordinate Accounts.
- Primary and Subordinate Accounts are designed for parents/guardians of minors but apply to any oversight relationship compliant with HIPAA.
- Primary Account holders have full access to their Subordinate’s Portal; Subordinates have NO access to the Primary’s Portal.
- The Primary-Subordinate relationship is established via identical email addresses.
- When multiple Patients share an email, one is designated Primary; others become Subordinates automatically.
- Set up the Primary Account holder first whenever possible.
Steps to Assign a Subordinate Account:
- Select the “Patients” area in the green, left-hand side menu.
- This opens the “Patient List”.
- Locate the Patient to be named as “Subordinate” using the search bar or manual scrolling.
- Select the desired Patient from the "Patient List".
- This opens the Patient’s "Patient Dashboard" page.
- Select the green “Patient Profile” button in the “Patient Details” section.
- This opens the “Patient Profile” page.
- Locate “Account” in the “Contact Info” section.
- Select the grey “Select a Primary Account” button, then choose an existing Patient as their primary account.
- The Primary Account Holder’s name, phone, and email will populate in the Subordinate’s Contact Info.
- When finished, select the blue “Save” button at the bottom of the page.
Note: If the identical email exists in another Patient Profile, the “Primary” button is disabled and a hint states “Primary Account Holder: PRIMARY’S NAME”.
